Pokémon in Minecraft has two names now, Pixelmon and Cobblemon, and Complex Gaming runs the biggest server for the first and a serious one for the second. Its listing calls it "The #1 PIXELMON Network" and, less modestly, "Your #1 Pokemon in Minecraft experience." Both claims survive a look at the player counter, which sits in the thousands whenever we check.
Three hubs, one network
The flagship: Pixelmon Reforged with gyms, safari zones, a working Pokédex economy and Complex's own additions like PokeHunt, PokeBuilder and daily challenges.
The newer Pokémon mod, with its modern models and animations, on a survival world with the same kind of custom content.
Skyblock, Survival, Factions, Creative, Prison and Lifesteal for friends who don't want to install anything.
The Pokémon side is where the network earns its name. PokeHunt sends you after specific spawns for rewards, PokeBuilder lets you assemble the Pokémon you want instead of breeding for a week, and the daily challenges keep long-time players logging in. Gym leaders are real progression rather than decoration, and the economy of catching, breeding and selling is deep enough that people run shops.
How joining works
Pixelmon and Cobblemon are mods, so you can't paste an address into vanilla Minecraft. Complex publishes its own modpacks on the Technic launcher and CurseForge; install one, launch it, and the server is already in your list. The vanilla hub needs nothing. Our guide on joining a modded Minecraft server walks through the launchers if you've never used one.
The counts we see at the hub address are only part of it, since the Pixelmon and Cobblemon servers answer at their own addresses:

Pixelmon or Cobblemon?
Pixelmon has more Pokémon, more moves and years of server content; Cobblemon has better-looking models and a lighter install. Complex runs both, so try the vanilla hub first, then install whichever pack your PC handles better. Our comparison guide, Cobblemon vs Pixelmon servers, covers the differences.
