TalonMC does not undersell itself; its site has a page titled "Why TalonMC Is the Best Minecraft Cobblemon Server." The case it makes is mostly numbers: ten gyms with four difficulty tiers, fourteen legendary quest chains, five tiers of instanced dungeons, forty-seven Mega Stones, Terastallization, Z-Moves, and "completely free to play progression with no pay-to-win." When our pinger checked, more than two thousand players were online, which suggests the argument is landing.
The gym run
The gyms are the spine. There are ten, "each in its own instanced arena, each with three trainers before the leader, each with its own badge," so a gym is a proper gauntlet rather than a single fight. Four difficulty tiers mean a new player and a competitive one can both find a wall worth climbing. Keystones for Mega Evolution "drop from every single gym," and the 47 stones cover "everything from Abomasite to Venusaurite including both Charizardite and both Mewtwonite variants."
Fourteen quest chains end in a legendary encounter, so the rarest Pokémon are earned by a storyline, not a lucky spawn.
Instanced dungeons "filled with traps, mechanics, mazes, and puzzles," with four difficulties from Easy to Extreme and scaling rewards.
A live PokeHunt system, Tera and Z-Moves, and "a rank the moment you join."
A network, not just Cobblemon
TalonMC is a network: the MOTD we captured was announcing a Prison mode "RELEASING TODAY," and the site lists Skyblock and SMP alongside Cobblemon, on both Java and Bedrock. The Cobblemon server is the flagship and the reason it appears on best-of lists, but the hub means your friends who don't want to install a modpack can still play something with you.
