This policy covers 9minecraftserver.com ("9MinecraftServer", "we", "us"). Questions or requests: [email protected] or our contact form.
What we collect
- Browsing the list: nothing that identifies you. Our host and Cloudflare, our network provider, keep standard short-term server logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type) to deliver the site and stop attacks.
- Voting: the Minecraft username you type and a one-way scrambled code (a keyed hash) made from your IP address. We never store the address itself. The code lets us enforce one vote per server every 24 hours.
- Owner accounts: your email address, a securely hashed password, when you last signed in, and the servers you claim.
- Contact messages and reports: what you write, plus your name and email for contact messages so we can reply. Reports store the same scrambled IP code as votes, to stop floods.
- Server listings: addresses, player counts, versions and descriptions are public information about Minecraft servers, gathered by pinging them the way the Minecraft client does, from public server registries, and from owners.
How we use it
To run the server list, count votes fairly, deliver vote rewards, let owners manage their listings, answer messages, and keep the site safe from bots and abuse. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- The server you vote for. When a server has vote rewards turned on, we send your Minecraft username to that server (through its Votifier plugin) so it can give you the reward. That server's own privacy practices apply from there.
- Service providers that run the site for us: Hetzner (hosting, in Finland), Cloudflare (network, security and the "are you human" check on forms), Google Fonts (our fonts load from Google, which sees your IP address), and Microsoft (our email). If you click a server's trailer, it loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain.
- The law. If we're legally required to, or to protect people from harm or fraud.
Cookies
We use only cookies the site needs to work. No analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
- 9mcs: keeps you signed in. Only set when you sign in.
- .AspNetCore.Antiforgery: protects forms from being submitted by other websites.
- mcname: remembers the Minecraft username you voted with, on this device, for 60 days, so you don't have to retype it.
- Cloudflare cookies (such as __cf_bm, and Turnstile on forms): bot protection.
Dismissing our cookie notice is remembered in your browser's local storage, not a cookie. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; signing in and voting may not work without them.
How long we keep it
- Raw server status checks: 7 days, then summarized into hourly figures.
- Votes: as long as needed for rankings and abuse prevention.
- Accounts: until you ask us to delete yours.
- Contact messages and reports: until they're dealt with and no longer needed.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or ask us to stop using it. Email us from the address on your account, or use the contact form, and we'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights under local law; we honor those requests the same way. We won't treat you differently for asking.
Server owners can edit or remove their listing at any time after claiming it.
Children
Many Minecraft players are young. Browsing and voting don't need an account, and voting only asks for a Minecraft username. Owner accounts are for people 13 and older, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Connections are encrypted, passwords are hashed, IP addresses from votes and reports are never stored in readable form, and staff access is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we'll tell affected users promptly if a breach puts their information at risk.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
