Peaceful Vanilla Club: 175,000 players and not one fight at spawn

Running since June 2019 with no map resets, PvP only in arenas, no teleporting, and a world file that has grown to 220 gigabytes. Java, Bedrock and VR all welcome.

The name is the rulebook. Peaceful Vanilla Club has run "24/7 since June 2019" with PvP "limited to intentional spaces such as arenas," no griefing thanks to claims, no teleportation, and nothing sold that gives an advantage. It sounds like it should be small. It isn't: the site counts 175,434 unique players, and our pinger usually finds it close to full.

Two worlds, one club

Mondo

The main world: semi-vanilla, with land claims, an economy, crossplay and quality-of-life features. Keep inventory is on. This is where you start.

Terra2

Pure vanilla, for trusted players who've earned it, with minimal systems. The reward for being a good neighbor on Mondo.

No teleporting is the rule that shapes everything else. You walk, ride, sail or build a rail, which means the map is criss-crossed with player roads and the towns grew where the roads met. Eighty-two custom plugins hold it together, but the site is clear that they're there to remove friction, not to add a game on top: this is vanilla survival with the bad parts removed.

Everyone can join, on anything

PVC runs Geyser, so Bedrock players on phones, consoles and Windows join the same world as Java players; console players who can't type an address can go through a friend account the site names, "Nifty Nemesis." VR players on QuestCraft and Vivecraft are supported too. The hardware behind it, per the site, is 24 CPU cores, 64 GB of RAM and 8,800 GB of cloud backups, which is a lot of care for a server that charges for nothing but cosmetics.

  1. Peaceful Vanilla Club opens. The map it started with is the map it still runs.

  2. Crossplay arrives; the community passes tens of thousands of players; annual End events become a tradition.

  3. The fifth-anniversary; the End Event is recorded as a timelapse by players.

  4. 175,434 players, a 220 GB world, and two servers: Mondo and Terra2.
