Mineville: an Earth SMP and a 20-level prison, one tap from the title screen

One of the first featured servers in September 2017, Mineville now runs an Earth-shaped survival world, a deep prison and PvP duels, with voice chat that filters itself.

When Mojang unified Bedrock across phones, consoles and Windows on September 20, 2017, it added a Servers tab with a handful of partners. InPvP was one of the three at launch, alongside Lifeboat and CubeCraft. Its server is now called Mineville, and when our pinger checks it, thousands of players are on it, most of whom got there with one tap from the title screen.

What's inside

Earth SMP

"Explore a massive survival world modeled after Earth, where every nation, city, and empire is built by players." There's a live map at map.inpvp.net so you can watch the borders move.

Prison

"Progress through 20+ mine levels as you upgrade your pickaxe, unlock powerful enchants, and build your wealth." A full prison ladder on a controller.

BedWars

InPvP's claim: "the best Bedwars pvp experience on Bedrock." Ask a Hive player for a second opinion.

PvP duels

SkyWars, BedWars, Mace, Spear and CrystalPvP formats, with a Hall of Fame and leaderboards.

Running through all of it is proximity voice chat "with automatic profanity monitoring," an item market and player trading. On a platform where most players are young and on a console, voice with a filter is a real feature rather than a bullet point.

The featured-server trade-off

Featured servers get players for free and pay for it with expectations. Mineville has taken its share of YouTube criticism over the years for how hard its store pushes, and any honest story should say so; the "pay-to-play featured server" video is a genre of its own. What the criticism tends to skip is that the games underneath are large and well made, and the Earth SMP in particular is something no other featured server offers. InPvP itself is a US company, based in Delaware, run by CEO Mohamed Weheba.
