Empire Minecraft: fifteen years of survival with no PvP and no reset

Over 400,000 players have joined since 2011. The economy runs on rupees, the world never resets, and the staff who write the updates have been there for years.

On July 25, 2026, Empire Minecraft celebrated its fifteenth birthday with a promo item and a note from the staff that began, "It has been an incredible 15 years." That is longer than most of its players have been alive. The server that opened in 2011 as a no-PvP survival community with a town system is still that, and the site's own numbers say "over 400,000 players, averaging 200 to 300 online during peak."

The three-world design

EMC's structure is what most survival servers eventually copy. You get a free plot in Town, a protected residence where nothing can be griefed and where players build shops. Resources come from the Wastelands, a world that resets on a schedule so ores never run out. And long-term builds go in the Frontier, a survival world with no resets where established players found outposts, connected by rail and guarded by a derelict policy so abandoned builds don't pile up forever.

Rupees

The currency for everything: shops, land, promos. Earned in game, with daily bonuses. Supporter tiers (Iron, Gold, Diamond) add perks, not power.

Custom mobs and items

EMC has its own bosses and special drops, added over years of updates, on a server that otherwise plays like vanilla.

Play Your Way

The stated philosophy: "we give you the option to play the way you like best." No PvP unless you seek out the arenas.

400,000+players since 2011, with a few hundred online at peak

Why it has lasted

Most servers this old have changed hands, reset, or become networks with a dozen modes. EMC stayed one connected community and kept the same small staff: chickeneer ships the big updates and balances the game, MoreMoople runs events and communications, and Aikar, who also wrote the timing tools much of the Minecraft server world runs on, manages the infrastructure. Updates still arrive on a schedule, with a 26.1/26.2 update in August 2026, and the promo codes for birthdays and holidays are a fifteen-year tradition.

It is family-friendly in practice rather than as a slogan: chat is moderated, griefing is impossible in Town and against the rules everywhere else, and the community is old enough that its regulars mentor new ones.

Start in Town

Join play.emc.gs on the current version (the MOTD tells you which), claim your free residence, and read the tutorial. Sell what you mine in the Wastelands at Town shops for your first rupees, then decide whether you're a shopkeeper, a builder or a Frontier pioneer. EMC has room for all three.

Quick answers

What is the Empire Minecraft IP?

play.emc.gs, on the version named in the MOTD (26.2 at last check). Java only.

Is Empire Minecraft pay-to-win?

No. Supporter tiers add perks like extra residences; rupees, items and progress are earned in the game.

Is there PvP?

Only in dedicated arenas. Town residences can't be griefed, and the Frontier and Wastelands have no PvP.

Does the world reset?

Town and the Frontier never reset. The Wastelands reset on a schedule so resources stay fresh.
