- "New" can mean a brand-new launch, a fresh season on an old server, or a relaunch. Each has different odds of lasting.
- For a new server, check that it stays online for a week, that the owner has claimed the listing, and that the Discord is busy.
- Seasonal and monthly-reset servers give you the day-one rush without betting on an unknown owner.
The best way to find new Minecraft servers is a list that sorts by when each server first appeared, like our newest servers page, which is ordered by the date our pinger first saw the server online. Below you'll find live lists of the newest servers by game mode, the difference between a new server and a new season, and a one-week test for telling which launches are worth your time.
What counts as "new" on our list
We don't take an owner's word for a launch date. A server counts as new here from the moment our pinger first gets a real answer from it, and that date is recorded once. So a server that was "launching soon" for three months doesn't jump the line, and one that has been open for a year doesn't look new just because its owner says so.
From day one, every new listing gets the same measurements as an old one: the real players online, the version range, uptime, a 7-day chart that fills in as the week goes on, and whether it needs an official account, accepts cracked accounts, or has a whitelist.

Three kinds of new server
A "new server" post can mean very different things. Knowing which one you're looking at tells you a lot about whether it will still be around next month.
New name, new owner, new world. Highest risk, highest reward: you might be one of the first twenty players on something that gets big, or you might log in next week to an "Unknown host" error.
An established server wipes its world or economy and starts again, usually on a schedule. The owner has a track record and the community already exists. Find them on fresh season servers.
A server that shut down comes back, sometimes under the same name. Ask in its Discord what changed. If the answer is "nothing," the same thing may happen again.
Announced but not open. We list these on coming soon servers so you can join the Discord early and be there when the whitelist lifts.
Is there a Minecraft server that resets every month?
Yes. Resets are common on modes where progress snowballs and late joiners can't catch up. The usual candidates:
- Lifesteal and factions: map resets stop one clan from owning everything forever.
- Prison and skyblock: economy resets, often with a "top island" or "top gang" prize at the end of each season.
- HCF: short maps, sometimes a week or two, built around a final end-of-map event.
- SMP: some public SMPs run numbered seasons, but many keep the world for good. Check the server's rules.
The reset length is set by each server, so read its Discord announcements. Monthly is common, but some run seasons of two or three months. If you like the fresh-start feeling without risking a brand-new owner, a seasonal server on an old network is the safer bet.

The one-week test for a brand-new server
A new server has no history, so you judge it by what it does in its first days. Here is what we'd check, using the data on its page:

None of these guarantee a server will last or that it is well run. They just tell you whether the owner is putting in steady work, which is the best predictor you have on day three.
New Minecraft servers for Java and Bedrock
New Java servers usually launch on the newest release. At the time of writing that's Java 26.3 "Wilderness Bound", released on 2026-09-15, which requires Java 25 to run. Servers still on 26.2 "Chaos Cubed" are fine to join if your launcher is set to that version. The same content drop came to Bedrock as 26.50 on the same day (then the 26.51 hotfix), so on Bedrock look for 26.50 or later.
New Bedrock servers are fewer, because many owners launch on Java and add Bedrock later through GeyserMC. That means a lot of "new Bedrock servers" are really new crossplay servers. Our daily Bedrock probe catches those, so check crossplay servers as well as Bedrock servers.
New SMP, vanilla and Lifesteal servers
These three modes get the most "new server" searches, and they age differently:
- New SMP servers live or die on their first 30 players. Join early, be active in the Discord, and you'll help shape the rules. Browse the SMP servers hub and switch to newest.
- New vanilla servers are the easiest to judge: there's no custom plugin to break, so uptime and the community are all that matter. See vanilla servers.
- New Lifesteal servers are almost always on a reset schedule. Ask when the current season ends before you grind for hearts.
New servers looking for staff
Launch week is when servers hire. If you want to be a builder, moderator or developer, new servers are where you get a chance without years of history. A few honest rules:
- Apply through the server's own Discord application form or ticket system.
- Expect to be unpaid on a small server. Get anything else in writing.
- Check the owner has been around more than a week before you put hours into builds.
- Never pay to become staff, and never buy a "staff rank."
- Never give anyone your Microsoft account login to "set up permissions." Owners give staff roles in-game with a permissions plugin like LuckPerms.

Quick questions
How long does a server stay on the new list?
It moves down as newer servers arrive. The order is based on when we first saw each server online, not on when the owner last edited the listing.
Are new servers less safe?
Not by default, but they have no track record. Use the one-week test above, and follow our server safety checklist for any server.
What about new servers people post on Reddit?
Plenty of good servers start there. Before you join one, search its name on our list to see if it answers our pinger and what its real player count is.
I own a new server. How do I get on this list?
Add it. It shows up once our pinger reaches it. Then claim it with the MOTD code so players can see someone is looking after it.
