SMP Minecraft Servers

About SMP servers

SMP stands for survival multiplayer: one shared survival world where everyone builds, trades and explores together. Unlike minigame networks, the world persists, so your base, your farms and your reputation are still there tomorrow.

Good SMPs have a community you can see: an active Discord, regular events, and rules that are actually enforced. Most public SMPs add a few plugins such as land claims so nobody can grief your build, but the core game stays close to vanilla.

Some SMPs are whitelisted, which means you apply first. They tend to be smaller and friendlier; public ones let you join straight away.

Questions players ask

What does SMP mean in Minecraft?

Survival multiplayer: a shared survival world that keeps going, rather than short rounds that reset.

Are SMP servers free?

Almost all are free to join. Many sell optional cosmetic ranks to cover hosting; check the server's store before you commit if pay-to-win bothers you.

How do I pick a good SMP?

Look at the player count over the last 24 hours on the server's page here, not just right now, and join its Discord to see whether people talk and get answers.
